IPObel conducts only formality examination of invention patent applications. The applicant needs to submit a search request within 13 months from the date of the latest application. The search report will be issued by the EPO with a written opinion on patentability, but it is not binding. The initial term of protection is 10 years, and upon application by the right holder in the last year of the term of protection, it can be renewed for 5 years, with a total of 15 years after the renewal.

• Grant fee: The applicant shall pay the granted announcement fee within 2 months from the date of issuance of the granted decision notice.
• Annuity: Pay year by year starting from the fifth year, the payment date of the fifth year annual fee is the public day or international public day of the fourth year, and so on. Fees can be paid within 3 months before the due date of payment. If the patentee fails to pay the annual fee on time, the non-payment notice will be published on the official announcement, and the fee can be paid within a grace period of 6 months after the expiration, but a penalty must be paid at the same time.

A 12-month novelty grace period is available if:

INPI conducts formal and substantive examinations of invention patent applications. There are three ways to submit an application to INPI: online application, mailing and submitting a written application to INPI in person. The SPO only conducts formality examination of the design patent application, which meets the requirements of formality examination and can be authorized after paying the registration fee.
